The Dream Job

Some of the people think that a great job is a high paying one or a job that goes hand in hand with your passion ,that is, a job that has low stress levels and is comfortable. But is this really ‘the dream job’? Research has shown that money makes you happy, but only a little. It also says that positive stress, that is having demands that match your abilities, is a great way to be satisfied in our job. A good job moves you out of your comfort zone.

From all this, I would start looking at my dream job from a different angle. It is not all about your passion. I was once in a class where I was told, ‘find your focus and not your passion; passion is overrated.’ This was quite confusing at first but I now understand it better. Finding something that engages you, helps others and contributes to the world is an example of a satisfying Job.

To me, a fulfilling career is one that fits with the rest of my life and that which I can use my skills to find solutions to help the society in any way possible, especially the less fortunate.

To sum it up, the top three factors that are important to me in a dream are; work that is engaging with positive stress, work that will make the world a better place and work that I am good at.
